The Indian hockey team started the Asian Champions Trophy 2024 with a win. The bronze medalist team of Paris Olympics, in its first match, defeated host China 3-0 in the match played in Hulunbuir on Sunday. India’s next match will be against Japan tomorrow i.e. on 9th September.

Sukhjit Singh, Uttam Singh and Abhishek performed for defending champion India. Sukhjeet opened the account by scoring a goal in the 14th minute of the first quarter. After this, in the 27th minute of the second quarter, Uttam Singh doubled the lead. Abhishek scored in the 32nd minute.

Six teams are participating China, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, and Pakistan will participate in this tournament along with India. India will face rival Pakistan on September 14. The final of the tournament will be played on September 17.

India is the most successful team The Indian hockey team is the defending champion of the Asian Champions Trophy. India has won the title four times and Pakistan three times. Whereas in 2021, South Korea won the title.

Indian team won bronze medal in Paris Olympics Under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Singh, the Indian hockey team won the bronze medal in the recently concluded Paris Olympics. The Indian team had defeated Spain 2-1 in the bronze medal match. This was the Indian team’s second consecutive bronze medal in the Olympics. In the Tokyo Olympics also, the team won bronze by defeating Germany.
