Women’s T20 World Cup starts from today in UAE. 23 matches will be played between 10 teams in 17 days. 5-5 teams are divided into 2 groups, Team India is in Group-A along with Australia and Pakistan. The final of the tournament will be held in Dubai on October 20.(23 matches will be held in Dubai and Sharjah)
The big match between India and Pakistan will be played in Dubai on 6 October. Team India has not won a single World Cup till date, whereas Australia is the 6-time T20 World Cup champion. England and West Indies also have 1 title each.

Question-1: What is the format? Unlike the Men’s T20 World Cup, only 10 teams are participating in the Women’s T20 World Cup. 5 teams each are divided into 2 groups. A team will play 4 matches in the group stage. There will be 20 group stage matches till October 15. After the end of the group stage, the two teams topping the points table will enter the semi-finals.(23 matches will be held in Dubai and Sharjah)
Question-2: Which teams are in the group stage? Group A consists of India, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka women’s teams. Whereas in Group-B there are teams of England, South Africa, West Indies, Bangladesh and South Africa. Scotland Women has made it to the T20 World Cup for the first time.
Question-3: When will the knockout stage start? The 2 semi-finals will be held on 17 and 18 October. In the first semi-final, the topper of Group A will face the second placed team of Group B. Similarly, in the second semi-final, the second-ranked team in Group-A will face the first-ranked team in Group-B. Question-4: At how many venues will the matches be played? All matches will be held at only 2 venues in UAE. The venues are Dubai and Sharjah. The second semi-final will also be held in Sharjah. Whereas the first semi-final and final will be played in Dubai. In the group stage, India Women’s team will play 3 out of 4 matches in Dubai only.
Question-5: At what time will the matches start? Only 2 timings have been kept for the matches. 3:30 pm and 7:30 pm. 7 matches will start in the afternoon, while 16 matches will be played from 7:30 pm. All matches and knockout matches of India will start at 7:30 pm only.(23 matches will be held in Dubai and Sharjah)
Question-6: What will happen if there is a tie? If the match is tied in the group stage, that is, if both the teams score equal runs in their respective innings, then the decision will be taken by Super Over. Both the teams will bat one over each, the team scoring more runs will be the winner.
Question-7: What if the super over also gets tied? There will be a second super over. The super over will continue until the result is declared. If the Super Over is not possible due to rain, then the match will be considered a tie and 1-1 point will be distributed between both the teams.(23 matches will be held in Dubai and Sharjah)
Question-8: What will happen if it rains in the match? If it rains, the decision will be taken through DLS i.e. Duckworth Lewis Stern Method. However, there is a condition for this also. To use the DLS method in the group stage, a minimum of 5 overs of play is required in the second innings.(23 matches will be held in Dubai and Sharjah)
For the DLS method in semi-finals and finals, it is necessary to play a minimum of 10 overs in the second innings. Under the DLS method, if the number of overs is less, the chasing team gets a revised target.
Question 9: What will happen if the toss is not possible? In the group stage, if the match is not played on the scheduled day due to rain, it will be considered inconclusive. That means both the teams will get 1-1 point. Whereas in case of result, the winning team gets 2 points and the losing team gets no points.
Question-10: What will happen if the knockout matches are also washed away in the rain? There is a reserve day for the semi-finals and final. Both the semi-finals are to be held on October 17 and 18, if the match cannot be held on the scheduled date due to rain, then the match will be held on the reserve day the next day. October 21 has been kept as reserve day for the final.(23 matches will be held in Dubai and Sharjah)
Question-11: What will happen if the decision could not be taken even on the reserve day? If the result of the semi-finals is not declared even on the reserve day, then the team topping the points table of the group stage will be the winner. If the result of the final is not declared on the reserve day then the points table will not get priority. The trophy will be shared between both the teams playing the final here.
Question-12: What will the champion get? For the first time, ICC has equalized the prize money of Men’s and Women’s T20 World Cup. The winner will get an amount of more than Rs 20 crore. Whereas the runner-up team will also take home around Rs 10.50 crore. This time the two teams that lost the semi-finals will get Rs 6.50 crore.(23 matches will be held in Dubai and Sharjah)
Question-13: Were there no warm-up matches? The tournament is starting from today, but warm-up matches are being played since September 28. India defeated West Indies by 20 runs in the first warm-up match and South Africa by 28 runs in the second match. Warm-up matches were played till 1 October.
