A major accident was averted in the skies above Syracuse Hancock International Airport in New York. Two planes narrowly escaped collision. The terrifying moment was captured on July 8 by a camera mounted on a North Syracuse Police Department patrol car. This video is now viral in social media. CNN has said in one of its reports that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has started investigating the incident.

According to media reports, both the planes belonged to commercial airline companies. One flight was PSA Airlines 5511 and the other Endeavor Air 5421. A statement issued by the FAA said that the incident occurred at approximately 11:50 am on July 8. ATC directed PSA Airlines 5511 to separate from an aircraft at Syracuse Hancock International Airport. He was taking off from the same runway.

The Indian Express, in its report, based on data from flight tracking website FlightRadar24, said that the PSA flight coming from Washington and the Endeavor Air flight going to New York were standing at a distance of about 700-1000 feet from each other. PSA Airlines 5511 was carrying 75 passengers and four crew members. At the same time, Endeavor Air 5421 had 76 passengers and four crew members. These included two pilots and two flight attendants. There is no information about anyone being injured in this incident.

However, experts say that the chances of collision between both the flights were not equal. He did say that air traffic control audio indicated the opposite.

According to CBS News, traffic control initially cleared PSA 5511 to land and also cleared Endeavor Air 5421 to take off from the same runway 28.
